Good Luck Bar Exam Takers

Good luck to those of you who are taking the bar exam this week!   First of all, don't study the day before the exam.  Just relax, watch some tv, and get some rest.  You've learned all that you are going to learn, so just take it easy. Secondly, bring several pen/pencils with you.  Lastly, once you are done with the exam LEAVE.  Unless you like second guessing yourself, you will just make yourself crazy.   Just leave, plug that ipod into your ears (you can't bring it with you though) and walk out of that building feeling confident that you did your best.

I'll say a little prayer for you all this week! I know you can do it!  Good luck!

Thinking like a Lawyer

Do you think like a lawyer in situations outside the classroom or the courtroom?  Sometimes the skills we learn as a lawyer don't work as well in other circumstances. Check out this blogger's opinion on the issue of thinking like a lawyer.

Why did you want to become a lawyer?

I wonder about the reasons why  people go to law school. Some go into law school knowing they won't practice, others go for social justice reasons. I know some go because they want to become wealthy.   I wonder how the economic situation of the county will influence the future pipeline of attorneys entering the profession?

I recently discovered Groupon, which offers daily deals at great prices through the power of group buying. When the minimum number of people sign for the deal of the day, everyone gets the discount.   For instance, a friend of mine got $100 wedding albums for $25. I got my $25 worth of dry cleaning for $12! You can also find  good deals on restaurants, spas/salons, and events.   It's also good for traveling. If you know you are going to Las Vegas for Spring Break, you can see if they have a groupon that you might use when you visit. Seeing a Vegas show for half off sounds good to me!   I wish I knew about this when I was in law school.  But now that I know about it, I definitely take advantage and share with my friends. You can get daily Groupon alerts so that you never miss a deal! Groupon is available in about 93 cities, so hopefully you can sign up for deals in your city!
