Questions?

Feel free to email me questions you have about law school or life after law school.  I can only speak from my personal experience, but for what's worth I don't mind offering my advice.  My husband is also an attorney so I can always pull him in for some additional perspective.   I will post questions and answers on my blog in an upcoming post.

  1. Just ran across your blog. Paying it forward indeed! I have a question for you: I'm a 2L, great grades, law review, the works. BUT with the job market like it is, I'm already slogging through hoping to find SOMETHING for next summer. In fact, I even had a scheduled interview get cancelled because the firm suddenly decided they weren't hiring anymore. Any advice for a lowly law student?

  2. Thanks for the question. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Have you thought about expanding your search beyond law firms? How about a clerking for a judge, or applying with a state or city governmental agency or a nonprofit organization? Its September so you still have plenty of time! You might want to spend your fall break doing a job shadow or setting up some informational interviews with employers you might be interested in working for. Also practice your interview skills and figure out what about you sets you apart, aside from your grades and law review. Be diligent with your job search and cast your net far and wide to get a job this summer! Good luck!

  3. If you have your heart set on a law firm. I suggest finding out 3Ls who worked at firms that you are interested to give you the inside scoop. Your career services office might know where the upperclassmen worked last summer. You might also consider applying at smaller law firms who don't have the competition of the bigger law firms, but you can still get firm experience.
